What we pack

The packing service covers the rooms you name. In a house that is often the kitchen, the glass cabinet and the pictures. In an office it is files, pedestals and the kitchen cupboard. Clothes on hangers go into wardrobe cartons. Books are packed so boxes stay liftable. China and glass are wrapped and stood in boxes, not thrown in loose.

A local team does this work before the van loads, so the crew is not waiting on half-empty cupboards. Insurance is provided. Ask us what is covered when you book, and point out anything that needs extra care.

We do not run a storage facility. If you are setting some boxes aside for a later date, in a place you have arranged yourself, tell us which boxes those are. We will move them to the address you give. Preparation of those items is discussed in our note on preparing items before a move.

What you should do first

Walk each room and decide what is going, what is staying and what is rubbish. Packing a loft full of things you mean to throw away wastes the day. Empty, defrost and dry the fridge. Take down what you can from wall fixings if you want those pieces to move. Leave passports, medication and the kettle box to one side so they do not leave in the van by mistake.

Hazardous items stay out. That includes paints, fuels, gas canisters and open bottles. Ask us if you are unsure about a particular item.

Packing with the move

Packing is usually booked with a house removal or an office removal. It also suits a flat where the kitchen is small but the crockery is not. The quote stays valid for 3 months, which helps if completion slips.
