House moves in Birstwith
Birstwith is about 6 miles west of 68 Bewerley Rd, in the Nidd valley. Stone houses, a narrow bridge and lanes with passing places decide whether a large van is right.

Directions from Birstwith to our Harrogate base
Birstwith is a small stone village in the Nidd valley, about 6 miles from Bewerley Road, between Hampsthwaite and the road to Pateley Bridge. Houses sit close to lanes with walls, bends and few places to pass. The bridge and the mill area are pinch points. A large van that is right for a Harrogate estate can be wrong here. We would rather see a photo and send a smaller vehicle twice.
HG3 is the postcode. There is no station. The mobile library uses the Station Hotel car park, which tells you the old rail halt is not a platform you can book. School-run times fill the lane outside the primary school. Ask us to avoid that half hour if the house is beside it.
Insurance is provided. Ask what is covered when you book.
See house removals for a full house, or man and van for a part load. Nearby: Hampsthwaite and Pateley Bridge. Harrogate removals is based on Bewerley Road.

Moving in Birstwith: common questions
Will a large van fit through Birstwith?
Not on every lane. Walls, bends and the bridge limit the size. Send a photo of the approach. A smaller van and a second trip is a normal plan, and it should be agreed before the day.
Is Birstwith on the way to Pateley Bridge?
Yes. It sits in the valley between Hampsthwaite and the road up to Pateley Bridge, about 6 miles from our Bewerley Road base. It is not a Harrogate suburb with estate roads.
Does the mobile library stop in the village?
The council timetable lists Birstwith at the Station Hotel car park, including Monday 2 November 2026, 10am to 11am. Check the current month, because the stop moves.
