Man and van in Harrogate
A man and van is a smaller vehicle and a small crew for a list that would look lost in a large removal truck. It is the right tool for part of a home, not a four-bed house.

What's included
- 1A van and crew sized to the list you send, not a full house load by default
- 2Blankets, straps and protection on the route through the building
- 3Dismantling and rebuilding standard beds and tables where it is safe to do so
- 4Loading in an order that suits the new address
- 5Insurance is provided. Ask us what is covered when you book
- 6A written quote that stays valid for 3 months
What this service is for
People book a man and van when the load is real but not a whole house. Typical jobs are a spare room of furniture, a move between flats, a few pieces bought across town, or the last of a house after the main load has gone. A local team at 68 Bewerley Rd handles these around Harrogate, then out to nearby towns when the list and the day allow it.
Two people are the usual crew when a sofa, a washing machine or a bed has to take a stair. One person cannot do that safely. Insurance is provided. Ask us what is covered when you book.
If the list grows into a full home, we will quote it as a house removal instead of squeezing it into the wrong vehicle.
What is on the quote
You are booking the van, the people and the time to load an agreed list, drive it and unload it. Blankets and straps are part of that. Beds and tables that come apart in a standard way can be taken down and rebuilt if we have agreed it.
The quote is in writing and stays valid for 3 months. It matches the list you sent. If the hallway holds twice that list, we stop and agree a change before loading. That is fairer than pretending the original quote still fits.
Packing a kitchen is not assumed. A second stop, a third address or a request to take rubbish away needs to be written in. We do not disconnect gas or water. Fridges should be empty, dry and secure. Anything still fixed to the wall as part of the building stays, unless we have said we can take it.
Where a smaller van helps
Town-centre streets and some village lanes are awkward for a large truck. A smaller van can get closer, then the carry is shorter. Residents’ bays and loading restrictions still apply. Check the signs and ask North Yorkshire Council if you need a suspension.
We use this service often in Bilton, Jennyfields, Harlow Hill and Starbeck. Furniture-only jobs are set out on furniture removals. Send a plain list when you get a free quote. The wider service list sits on our Harrogate removals page.
What affects the cost
The list
A sofa and ten boxes is a different job from three bedrooms of furniture. The inventory sets the van and the time.
Stairs and carry
A ground-floor door is quicker than a third-floor flat with no lift or a long walk from the kerb.
Extra stops
A second address, a tip stop or a wait for keys needs to be on the quote.
Packing
You can load sealed boxes yourself. Packing a kitchen is a separate request.

- 1
Send the list
Addresses, floors, parking and a plain list of items. A photo of the stack is better than a vague note.
- 2
We quote the job
The quote matches that list. If the pile is much larger on the day, we agree a change before it goes in the van.
- 3
Load, drive, unload
We collect at the agreed time, secure the load and unload into the rooms you name.
Man and van FAQs
Is a man and van enough for a whole house?
Sometimes for a small flat or a lightly furnished home. A family house usually needs a larger vehicle and a bigger crew. We will say so when we see the list.
Do you take a single piece of furniture?
Yes, if the piece and the access make a sensible job. There is no separate single-item page. Describe the item, the floors and the parking and we will quote it.
Are boxes included?
Only if you ask for packing. Many people pack their own and use the van for furniture and sealed boxes.
Can you wait while I collect keys?
A short handover is normal. A long wait is not included unless it is on the quote. Tell us if completion times are uncertain.
What are your opening hours?
Published hours are 24 hours, so you can enquire at any time. The van arrives at the slot we agreed, not as an unplanned call-out.
